Reed-Mace 2

The Greater Reed-Mace (Typha latifolia) is one of the most characteristic plants of pond edges and wet ground. It's also called the Bullrush or Cat's-Tail. These hard, velvety brown "Cat's tails" are the female flowers, now ripened to seedheads and starting to break up and disperse the down wind-bourne seeds.
